Building-material dealers and home-improvement centres
You have the range and the service. MOD develops contractor accounts for you and brings in the projects decided outside the store.
More active accounts, more volume per account.
Your sales force. Paid on performance.
An outsourced technical sales force for the construction industry. We prospect contractors, develop the accounts and follow the cycle through to the order.
The problem
Products, pricing, inventory, delivery: most dealers already have what it takes to serve contractors. But sales stay reactive. You wait for the customer at the counter. You quote what comes in. The projects decided on the jobsite, at the competitor or in the contractor's office pass you by.
The problem isn't the offer. It's presence in the field.
The customer comes to the counter
You quote what comes in
The account grows by chance
We go to the jobsite
We spot projects before the tender
The account grows by method
The solution
MOD becomes your field sales team. We prospect the contractors in your territory, with your products and your pricing, under your banner on an exclusive mandate. We understand the projects, propose the right solution, coordinate the quote and follow through to the order. Then we bring the customer back.
We don't just send you prospects. We develop the accounts.
How MOD works
A complete cycle, documented in our CRM, from targeting to repeat purchase. You receive a monthly report on your territory.
We identify the contractors that matter in your territory: trade, volume, projects under way.
We meet them. On the jobsite, at the office, by phone. No scripts, trade conversations.
We confirm the real potential: needs, buying frequency, current suppliers.
We spot upcoming projects before they go to tender.
We propose the right products and quantities, with the technical expertise required.
We coordinate the quote with your inside team and we defend it.
We follow through to signature. The sale closes with you.
We come back. Next project, repeat purchase, bigger basket.
Not a lead agency
A lead-generation agency hands you a list. The work starts there. MOD does the work.
| Lead agency | MOD | |
|---|---|---|
| What you receive | A list of contacts | Active accounts that order |
| Who talks to the contractor | Your team, after the handoff | A MOD rep, in the field |
| Who understands the project | Nobody, before the call | MOD, on site |
| Who handles the quote | You | MOD, with your team |
| Who follows up | You | MOD, through to the order |
| How we get paid | By volume of contacts | On the margin we generate |
We don't sell names. We develop accounts that order from you.
Without adding payroll
Hiring an outside sales rep is a good bet. But it's a long, fixed bet you have to manage. MOD gives you the field now.
| Traditional in-house team | MOD | |
|---|---|---|
| Start-up | Recruiting, hiring, training | Operational quickly, construction expertise already in place |
| Cost | Fixed salary, benefits, vehicle, tools | Commission on margin generated, no fixed fee |
| Management | Supervision, targets, a CRM to keep alive | Documented follow-up in our CRM, monthly territory report |
| Risk | Bad hire, turnover, slow ramp-up | Engagement adjustable to territory and results |
| Brand | Yours | Yours, under an exclusive mandate. MOD works under your banner. |
When volume grows, MOD grows with you: one more rep in the territory, with no hiring on your side.
Two ways to work with MOD
Partner mode is the door: no commitment, MOD routes orders to you. The Exclusive mandate is the destination: the territory is reserved for you, and so are the accounts MOD develops in it. No fixed fees either way.
| Partner · no commitment | Exclusive mandate | |
|---|---|---|
| Commitment | None. A one-page agreement, cancellable at any time. | 6-month trial, then a 24-month contract. |
| The accounts | MOD accounts. MOD keeps the relationship with the contractor. | MOD accounts, developed for you alone. For the length of the contract, their orders go to you. |
| Banner | MOD, independent representative. | Yours. MOD sells your products, at your prices. |
| Territory | Non-exclusive. MOD routes each project to the best-placed partner. | Exclusive. One dealer per territory; your competitors are not our clients. |
| What you receive | Orders, project by project. | Growing accounts, a documented pipeline and a monthly report. |
| Compensation | Commission on the gross margin of every sale to MOD accounts. Higher rate: MOD carries the relationship and the risk. | Commission on the gross margin of sales to the accounts developed. Standard rate. |
| Moving to a mandate | Any time. On signing, the accounts developed with you become exclusive to your banner for the length of the contract, and the commission drops to the standard rate. | You're there. |
No monthly fee, no setup fee, in either mode. Commission is calculated on margin, not volume: a sale that earns you nothing earns us nothing.
Sectors

You have the range and the service. MOD develops contractor accounts for you and brings in the projects decided outside the store.
More active accounts, more volume per account.

Your territory is bigger than your team. MOD extends field coverage and develops the accounts you don't have time to visit.
Territory coverage without immediate hiring.

Depending on the mandate, MOD can provide complementary representation to the dealers and contractors in your network.
Field presence for your products, in support of your distribution.
Why MOD
A team that comes from the jobsite. We talk materials, methods and schedules with the contractor. Nothing to translate.
Development happens on the jobsite and in the contractor's office, not behind a screen.
Accounts opened, quotes submitted, orders closed. We measure what comes in.
MOD is paid on the gross margin it generates, not on volume. A sale at a loss earns nobody anything.

Frequently asked questions
The short answers. The rest is a 30-minute conversation.
Partner mode has no commitment: MOD works under its own banner, keeps the relationship with contractors and routes orders to you, project by project, for a commission. The Exclusive mandate reserves the territory and the accounts MOD develops in it for you: one dealer, our work under your banner and a monthly report, for a 6-month trial then a 24-month contract. Most dealers start as Partners and sign the mandate once they see orders coming in.
Under an Exclusive mandate, no: one dealer per territory, for the full length of the mandate. In Partner mode, MOD works with several dealers and routes each project to the best-placed partner; that is exactly what the mandate changes.
MOD does, in both modes: the accounts are developed, documented and maintained by our team. What the Exclusive mandate gives you is exclusivity: for the length of the contract, MOD develops those accounts for you alone in the territory, under your banner, and routes their orders to you. In Partner mode, MOD routes each project to the best-placed partner.
Nothing fixed, in either mode. MOD is paid a commission calculated on the gross margin of net sales (before tax, after returns and credits) to MOD accounts. The rate is higher in Partner mode, because MOD carries the relationship and the risk, and standard under an Exclusive mandate. Percentages are set in a meeting, based on your range and your territory.
No. At scoping, we list your existing accounts: they are protected, no commission. If you hand us dormant accounts to reactivate, the ones MOD brings back to life are treated as MOD accounts. Everything is in writing before the first day in the field.
That's the goal. A MOD account stays a MOD account, whether the order goes through our rep or directly to you. The commission applies to every sale to that account, in both modes. The list of MOD accounts is shared and updated every month, so there is never a discussion.
On the gross margin of net sales to MOD accounts: before tax, after returns and credits. Every month you send us the sales statement for those accounts; MOD invoices the commission on that basis. If you would rather not share your costs, we agree at scoping on a reference margin per product category.
You can end it at any time. The commission remains due on orders already placed and on sales to MOD accounts in the following 90 days. After that, the accounts remain MOD accounts and MOD is free to route them elsewhere.
It depends on the territory, the season and your range. Prospecting starts in the first week; the first projects and quotes follow, then recurring orders settle in. Under a mandate, the monthly report shows your progress from month one.
MOD prospects, qualifies and documents the territory exactly as on a full mandate, under your banner. At the end of the 6 months, we review the pipeline and first results together and decide whether to continue on a 24-month contract. To get started, book a 30-minute conversation.
No. MOD comes equipped: vehicle, tools, CRM. You provide access to your range, your prices, your policies and an inside contact for quotes.
Quebec and Ontario. Each mandate targets a specific territory (a region, a corridor, an area around a store). Tell us yours in the form.
Depending on the mandate, yes, to the dealers and contractors in its network, as long as there is no conflict with a dealer under an exclusive mandate in the territory.
Both, and we say so clearly on both sides. For dealers, MOD is an outsourced sales force. For contractors, in areas without an exclusive mandate, MOD is a free outside buyer that consults several suppliers. Where a dealer has signed an exclusive mandate, the contractors in that territory are served through them, and we tell them up front. See the contractor offer →
